Ashlee "Lady Lock" Steed is a Canadian dancer, performer and teacher who currently resides in Halifax. Her love of street dance took off almost a decade ago when she learned bboying from a local bboy crew the Battledudes, now known as Hangmen Crew. Through the hip hop community she found the funk style locking, and since then she has traveled the world for the very best in street dance education. Along side her locking education Lady Lock has participated in various battles and competitions across Canada. Her competitive experience includes being a semi-finalist at Bust a Move, Canada's largest street dance competition in Montreal in 2010 and One Touch in Calgary where she was twice a finalist and took the win in 2009. In more recent years Lady Lock has been expanding her range as a street dancer in various styles including Popping, House, Top Rock, Hip Hop Party Dance, and more recently the Hustle. More important than becoming a great dancer herself, Lady Lock is dedicated to learning and understanding the history of all street styles so as to become a great teacher and pass on the knowledge that she has been blessed to learn directly from the source. Lady Lock spent several years teaching in Calgary eventually finding a home at Pulse Studios. She has spent the past 3 years in Halifax collaborating in several programs with Concrete Roots and also launching her own event called Trial By Style.
